About The Case Summary

About Us

The Case Summary is a platform created by a group of enthusiastic law students for the benefit of academic legal education. The primary goal of our team is to provide summaries of cases along with case laws in an organized and simplified manner for the students of law, especially from Bangladesh. Whether it is for a better general understanding of the interpretation and application of statutes and legal principles by the courts, for better exams and papers citing case references, or for a smoother mooting experience, attaining the knowledge of case laws is highly important for every student of law. In order to make the learning process slightly easier, we analyse the judgments of the courts and summarize the cases into several digestible portions. Our summaries are primarily divided into facts, issues and decisions for a better understanding of the cases. Additionally, sometimes we include a summarized version of the arguments of the parties involved, statutes relevant to the cases, or legal principles either applied or adopted in the cases by the courts. We also provide adequate historical background leading up to the cases for a better understanding of the students when necessary.

The Case Summary is a voluntary project run by students of law. All the content available on this website is free of charge. Nothing is blocked or hidden behind a paywall or a paid subscription. Our website has been specially catered towards the Bangladeshi students of law. We provide each summary in both Bangla and English languages so that Bangladeshi students might find an easier experience with multiple language options to choose from. However, we do not limit ourselves within the jurisdiction of Bangladesh when choosing cases to summarize. We select important cases from the legal systems of Bangladesh, the UK, India, the USA, Pakistan etc. which provides a better and more diverse view of legal principles. We practice utmost caution in the process of research, writing, translating and proofreading. Our vision is to grow this platform into a hub of legal learning by expanding upon our collection of summaries, as well as providing other helpful contents and tools for the students in the future. In no way do we claim that our case summaries are a viable and complete replacement for reading the main judgment texts. However, we aim to create a helpful and positive learning environment for the students through cooperation.
